The most exciting water toys for Superyacht owners

New-age superyacht water toys are completely rewriting the traditional onboard experiences. Offering unique shared memories, they represent the next evolutionary stage of humankind’s exploration of the marine environment, redefining at the same time how we experience and interact with the ocean.

Whether you own or charter a Superyacht, water toys are  essential for  elevating the onboard experience. It is also a key task of the crew members to provide an exciting and  memorable experience that keeps the guests entertained.

In the past, the selection was limited to  kayaks, surfs, snorkelling gear, wakeboard, waterskis, inflatable tows, and fishing gear. These  equipment  often lack the excitement factor when it comes to onboard experiences, even so, they are considered as standard equipment in the Superyacht inventory.

During the last decade, the evolution of the superyachts drastically increased the diversity of how most luxurious yachts are equipped. Superyachts are getting bigger offering more allocated space and possibilities for water toys.

What people are really looking for is not just a holiday escape, but an experience of a lifetime. Even if Jet Ski is the must-have basic and has drastically increased over the past years, the trend now shifted from the surface of the water to  toys that allow us to immerse  in the deep and playfully discover a new and exciting world .

One of the most accessible water toys for underwater discovery is the Sublue Underwater Scooters. It offers a hedonist escape into the world of the open seas.

The amazing benefits of these powerful electric luxury water toys are  that you can have fun, and simultaneously you can take care of the environment and respect the entire sea life. Underwater exploration is a great alternative to enjoy the summer with family and friends and feel close to the ocean.

And who would not want to go to scuba diving in such places as the Barracuda Point on Sipadan Island, Malaysia where a coral reef has formed around the rim of a dormant underwater volcano, giving rise to a rich, diverse ecosystem in the crystal-clear waters. Over 3,000 species of fish, dozens of turtles, reef sharks, parrotfish and hundreds of kinds of coral fill make this teeming waters area special.

But undoubtly, the enormous, swarming tornado of shimmering silver barracudas is unique, one of the most looked after scenery for underwater photographers.

One step further from the Sublue Underwater Scooters is the SeaBob, which provides ultimate single-driving pleasure both over and under the surface. Similar to a Jet Ski or a traditional motorbike,  the speed is regulated via the control grip. It provides  pure excitement, enhancing your snorkelling, free or scuba diving experience onto a whole new level of intensity.

What most Superyacht owners like in the all-around high-performance SeaBob, besides that it makes you  feel like James Bond when you ride it, is that it is completely environmentally friendly. It zooms powerfully and almost silently through the water. Man and machine are in perfect harmony.

The dynamism of the SeaBob develops its special appeal under the water. The watercraft can be steered down into the depths simply by applying light pressure. Basically, one can move through the sea bed just like a dolphin and explore aquatic life in the most electrifying way.

This can be truly ideal in diving locations such as the Richelieu Rock in Thailand, which was discovered by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and is known for its purple corals as well as diverse marine life. It is also a great location to swim among manta rays.

It seems unbelievable but there are diving locations even for art lovers such as the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park which is a collection of ecological underwater contemporary art located in the Caribbean sea off the west coast of Grenada, West Indies.

It was created by British sculptor, Jason deCaires Taylor who envisioned the world’s first underwater sculpture park to engage local people with the underwater environment that surrounds them using his works which are derived from life casts of the local community. The installation includes sixty-five concrete individual sculptures covering an area of over 800 square meters.

Impressive diving depths of the SeaBob is up to 40 metres and can be programmed to suit individual requirements via  on-board electronics. A safety cut-off feature reliably ensures that the selected diving depth is not exceeded.

However, there are diving locations to fulfil our curiosity and need for something more special. One of these exceptional diving places is the Great Blue Hole, a giant marine sinkhole off the coast of Belize. It lies near the center of Lighthouse Reef, a small atoll 70 km (43 mi) from the mainland and Belize City.

It is one of the most unique dive sites in the world and impressively, it is big enough to be seen from space as well.

The hole is circular in shape, 318 m (1,043 ft) across and 124 m (407 ft) deep. This is a dark and serene dive which requires more than a SeaBob to dive into.

There are all sorts of unique rock formations down in the hole, and all types of species of fish, including midnight parrotfish, sharks, angelfish, purple seafans, Pederson’s shrimp, and more.

If  you wish to share the joy or dive even further down then the Triton submarines are made for you. Unlike in the old times, there are several mini-submarines available that can be easily stored in the garage without taking too much space.

It is an important differentiating factor that unlike the Underwater Scooters or the SeaBob, a submarine allows you to explore under the sea in absolute comfort and with a company of family and friends.

The Florida, USA-based Triton Submarines creates the world’s lightest and most compact passenger production submersibles, specifically designed for superyacht use. They are the pinnacle of the civilian submersible sector.

The only 1.8 metres TRITON 1650/3 LP will take a pilot and two passengers to 500 metres deep (1,640 feet) in total comfort. While the world’s largest capacity acrylic-hulled personal submersible, the TRITON 3300/6 model series offers memorable experiences to share with up to six friends.

The revolutionary arrangement of the interior provides staggering, uninterrupted, straight-down and straight-up views for the passengers, no matter whether you choose a small three-person version or the largest ones up to seven-passenger seats with a spectacular 12 hours of maximum underwater endurance.

Thanks to the outstanding design and relentless attention to building quality, Triton’s focus is very much more on luxury and the guest experience rather than extreme depth. Yet, their TRITON 36000/2 still achieved the world record for the deepest ever submersible dive.

Offering unique shared memories for families or groups of guests, these submersibles are in high demand by not just the Superyacht owners but the hospitality sector as well.
